Fuck Me USA - Fuck Me USA

Like some bastard offspring of XTRMNTR era Primal Scream and The Jesus & Mary Chain but with more attitude and swagger, this is Six By Seven's Chris Olley's side project, fucked up fuzzy rock with electrobeats.

The Bishops - The Bishops

Was this album released in 2007 or 1967, you'd be hard guessed to tell at times, there's plenty of bands who take heed from the past but The Bishops actually do sound like they're from then. Add on to this the fact that they sound like one of the best bands from the 60's and put on one hell of an electrifying live show, this is an album not to be missed

Switches - Heart Tuned To D.E.A.D.

Unashamedly pop-rock, Switches have some of the hugest choruses you will ever hear, they bring to mind bands like Spacehog, unfortunately they only released this one album so get hunting it down.

The Wildhearts - The Wildhearts

No list i ever make is complete without featuring something to do with this band, i've been a fan for around 18 years and 13 years down the line they still throw out masterpieces like this jammed full of riffs and harmonies. TOP ALBUM!!!

Humanfly - II

Old friends of mine who i put out their first release which is a far cry from this beast, epic does not come close and the flyboys do tend to switch styles for each new release but this is easily my favourite, scarily heavy.

Charger - Spill Your Guts

For a band who's motto has always been Volume Over Talent, their 3rd album takes it a different level, Volume so deep it's likely to make you shit yourself. Veering from slow pounding epic slabs to short nasty hate filled sermons.

Biffy Clyro - Puzzle

If i have to chose between Only Revolutions and Puzzle, it has to be Puzzle because its so much more epic, heavier, and crammed full of ideas. There's a double album coming which could be their death knell so appreciate them while they still rock.

Ted Maul - White Label

There are no other records like this one at all, nothing even close, full on deathcore mixed with techno elements, it might sound crazy, it sounds like it would never work, but it does. You'd be hard pressed to find an album as technically brutal as this.

First band to get in touch and ask me to listen to their stuff so i'm quite honoured, plus they're local lads from Leeds which can't hurt. The music? Bloody interesting actually, i was expecting the first band like this i had to review to be awful and it would be really awkward to write a middle of the road review without saying things along the line of this is shit. Luckily for me Super Luxury kick out some dirty scuzz-rock in line with my old friends and favourites Kill Yourself, very angular style of playing darting into multiple directions at once. As a fan of old Amphetamine Reptile bands i see much to love in this band especially considering this looks to be their first release and they're releasing it on cassette (always good), any criticisms, yeah the production could be louder, looking forward to hearing more from these guys in future.

Band Of The Week: XII Boar

3rd band of the week (after a weeks break due to illness) goes to XII Boar, I don't even know that much about this band as i can never find any kind of bio etc.. All i do know is that last year their debut self titled EP was put out to download for free and i decided to give it a chance, i was not disappointed. The first EP storms through just over 15 minutes of extremely fuzzy heavy as fuck stoner rock, productions a little murky but it made me keep an eye out for any future releases.
Earlier this year i did another search to see if anything else had been released and found the 'Split Tongue, Cloven Hoof' EP again to download for free!! I was expecting the new EP to be good, but it turns out they've spent the last year perfecting their craft and this is seriously one of the best EP's i've heard from a band in a long while. Everything is an improvement on last years already promising release, better production, better tunes, and the technical ability has come on leaps and bounds.

Fingers crossed in the near future we'll get a full length and the band will make it a bit further oop North for a gig.

John Coffey - Bright Companions

Unbelievable screamy goodness from the Netherlands, produced by Jag Jago from Ghost Of A Thousand, just started listening to this but it's already pounding my brain

Cars On Fire - Black Hearts & Bloody Hands

The first album by these guys showed promise, this takes it to a whole other level, heavy as hell and melodic as fuck, love it!!!

Parkway Drive - Atlas

Fucking brutal, still need to watch the DVD i got with it but i bet that's awesome as well

Axewound - Vultures

What's that an album featuring the singer out of Bullet For My Valentine that's not shite? Yes it's not shite in fact it's really fucking good!!

Soundgarden - King Animal

I know, i know, i was sceptical that this would be rubbish as well, but in fact it's the most consistently good album they've ever done

Deftones - Koi No Yokan

The most beautifully heavy album i've ever heard, this is what i've been waiting for from these guys for quite some time.

These prices are starting to take the piss, they say artists barely make any money from the sale of records so then why are they so high for deluxe editions, i recently got the Manic Street Preachers Generation Terrorists one with 3CD's 1 DVD, 1 10" record, a book, a photo and a fake backstage pass for £45, which is a fare cry from the £140 for the Pumpkins one. Fucking disgrace!!!!!!
